Today was one of the first days since I have cleaned out the hall closet aka linen closet that we could as a family bust through some of our clutter. Thanks to my dear Karo and the book "It's all too much" by Peter Walsh, I am making it through step 1 and so is the rest of the family. We are in the main rooms of our house today-living room, dining room and kitchen. Since the 3 rooms are like one great room, we are slowly hitting each part. Amazingly, we have gotten rid of VCR tapes, DVD's and games the kids haven't played with in years. First, we took everyone's personal belonging back to their rooms. Then we easily threw away any obvious trash. Now we are focusing on area by area and quickly sorting through-keep because we love it, not ours/outta here and trash. We have, like I said, already removed quite a bit and it's amazing at how big this room is looking. I should have taken a before shot...but we are already full swing into this, besides me sitting down to write this blog. It feels nice to have the space back and it will be awesome to sell all these fun things we no longer use at our "Bigger than EVER yard sale" in a week or so. :)
Now I gotta get back to work!
Glad the book is coming in handy! Gonna start my room by room as soon as the kiddos are back in school. America is the land of excess... I am guilty. Hoping to cut back, make my money go farther, and create a home that is truly a haven for the family. Happy sorting!
