Couch Potato

Today I've been home sick. I am resting and trying to kick this bug in the rear before needing to go to the high school Open House and back to work tomorrow. I ran the kids to school, threw dishes into the dishwasher and started laundry before crashing on the couch for 3 hours. Yeah, I don't feel so great and if you know me, you certainly know I can't sit still for 5 minutes, let alone 3 hours!
I just forced myself to get up and pull out something for dinner and walked into my daughter's room to find the explosion of teen clothing all over! Urgh! So much for that declutter a few months ago. I am beginning to believe that her closet somehow creates more and more clothing, bags, and shoes than I remember buying! We kinda slacked on our purge at least once a day and now that all our activities are back in full force the house is in danger of becoming that insane pit of clutter again. Well, though I'll hear all kinds of complaints this afternoon...I sorted through the piles of clothing in her room...I know alot of it is too little, some of it I am sure should be in the wash (and it is now) and there is a ton of dance stuff...her chore today is to purge the dance pile or well, one of the piles.
It's just unbelievable how we collect all this stuff so quickly. We have 3 days before we are off for a quick trip and my goal is to take one load to either a consignment shop, Goodwill or just give away to those we know can use something. Looks like the first pile will be girls clothes :)
I was just reading another blog the other day about how this one family "simplified" their lives and are much happier. I doubt we'll go as far as they have but the idea was phenomenal!
They basically did what we did-cleaned out their home, quit eating out and buying unnecessary items and then they sold their house! They rent a house, take their kids on trips instead of buying gifts and for the most part, they look happy as can be!
Well, I love owning my home but as for all this stuff...I think it's time to get back to sorting and purging.
This week, my kids' rooms.
Update later...
