I've been thinking today about those itty bitty caterpillars. Such lessons to take away from nature...
As we have watched about 2 dozen Monarch caterpillars transform this last month, I came to these lessons to apply in my own life.
Those caterpillars are focused. Determined. Their job is simply to eat the milkweed, get big and change into a butterfly. And man, do they ever stay on that mission. One caterpillar will devour a whole milkweed plant.
Lesson One~ Stay focused and work hard.
When they get ready to start their transformation, they have to find just the right place and form a "J" by very slowly and carefully letting go of the place they have chosen.
Lesson 2~ Remember Jesus & let go.
After the chrysalis forms, it's a waiting game. It takes 10-14 days for the metamorphis to take place.
Lesson 3~Wait in a quiet place. Recreate and renew yourself.
It is such an amazing thing to watch the Monarch buterfly emerge, dry their wings and take flight.
Lesson 4~ Break the mold and be free.
As we released some of the butterflies, it was quite fantastic to watch as each one was different in how it left our hands. The first one flew quickly away-in seconds! Another one stayed very still on a plant for hours and then finally took off. I think we are somewhat like the Monarch...though the Monarch seems to have taken to heart those lessons already and we are in constant need of reminders.
My plan is to try to be a little more still and reflective. My hope is that in this I'll find an amazing life. :)
Enjoy your flight.
