Domestic Goddess

I certainly won't win Domestic Goddess of the year. Nope, not even close but I have started to enjoy my dinner preps. It's funny that I asked for a more simple life and slowly and a bit faster than I expected God has given me just that.
A week or so ago, we cut our landline. We get only calls concerning our children or work now. An occasional call from a grandparent and that's it. It's been amazing how we don't miss all the nonsense calls we were taking that pulled from our focus. Calls that weren't for us or really didn't pertain to anything we needed, you know the ones, the telemarketers.
It's been so quiet and much easier for me to stay focused on cooking.
We cut out other nonessential items from our stack of bills as well. I started a 2nd job and both kids have a new routine for after school.
We are well on our way to simplicity. I have borrowed Dave Ramsey's Total Moneymakeover from the library and we are on the baby steps cleaning up our finances. It's unbelievable how much we, Americans waste. Planning, it all just takes planning. And not getting caught up with the "Jones's".
We have some clear goals for ourselves and some of our changes are going to be looked at as if we are out of our minds but that's ok. Simple is what we wanted and God has shown me that path.
My house isn't super clean, my laundry isn't even folded but I am moving along to a life freedom. Freedom from the rush of keeping up with all the others who are disillusioned by wants that they think will make them richer, happier and cooler. I already had everything in front of me to be those things. Now it's time to be thankful for those assets and use them properly.
I asked for simple and I am nearly there. I suspect there won't be too many others there to start with but soon you'll all start to see that being a goddess isn't all it's cracked up to be :)
