Garden of Grace

Grace means favor or blessing; a virtue name referring to God's grace.
My Grandma was named Grace. She was an avid gardener, mother of 8 and grandmother to 35+ children. She lived into her 80's and lived pretty simply. She collected odd stuff, hung pictures too high on her walls, wore plaid with prints and always seemed to know which of her children one of those grands belonged to. Was she favored amongst those of this world? Well, to at least 50 some folks she sure was and I am pretty sure God just adored her and her outfits!
She visited my home here in G'ville only once. But many times sent me plants and flowers to plant here. She loved flowers, gardens and dirt!
One of the plants she sent me was a Climbing Morning Glory which I love. If you know me well, then you know that I am not the avid gardener that my Grandma was nor do I have a green thumb like my own Mom. But that Morning Glory is still coming back every spring to smile on me in the early part of the day and sometimes in the late afternoon.
Since Grandma passed away, this plant brings me great memories of family and many smiles, like I said she really did wear plaid with random floral prints or what have you...and if you asked her about it she'd tell you it matched-she did always seem to have the right colors.
Glory means honor or admiration. I adored my silly Grandma Grace and miss her. I decided today that that little vine needed a place of honor.

So, as promised to Karo~here's my tutorial on making a fairy chair.

1. You'll need a flowering vine. Mine, of course, is the Morning Glory.
2. You'll need an old chair. The chair I chose to use was an anniversary gift a few years ago that has character. (Just like my dear Grace.)
3. Train your vine up the chair leg.

4. Soon you'll have a vine covered chair blooming all summer.

Well, there you have it: a nice little "fairy chair"! When I was a little girl, I was sure there were fairies. I am not sure if my Grandma encouraged this idea or not. They all say I danced around the trees and flowers alot. And so, if there are fairies, this would be just the place they would chose to live. I am still quite sure that if I wait just long enough, this summer I may catch one here. If I do, I think I'll call her...Grace.
