A cruise ship...I think not.

So how many of you have ever stepped on those itty bitty Polly Pocket dolls and ALL the accessories that the girl Polly has...well, I have and had long since forgotten about them. Until today, yes, that's right, today. We got a letter from the great company, Mattel, maker of the awesome and cool "Barbie and the Rockers" that I had adored as a child and who made all those zillion Polly and friends plus accessories including a huge cruise ship that my daughter owned in elementary school. Of course, we are long since out of this stage and into iTunes and Forever 21 gift cards so I immediately wondered what Mattel had to say to me, a mom of a teen girl! Did we now have a toy that my son owned that I would have to send in? They also make Hot Wheels which are rampant in our house these days! Well, it seems that there had been a suit filed over those Polly toys that had been recalled (lead paint) and since being such the fantastic Mom that I am, sending them back got my name added to those whom would receive part of the settlement. I had totally forgotten the days of packing the Pollies for trips to Granny's or trying to find that one little shoe for that one little outfit...Mattel sent reimbursement vouchers once they received our packages of recalled toys. We had gotten new toys to replace them and had truly moved on from Polly. Not one thought about her for years, yes, Polly had set sail on her cruise ship and we, too, sailed on into middle school. I wish I could tell you that Polly was now sending us on a fantastic cruise around the world but unfortunately we are one in millions that are receiving these settlement checks. Our cut was based on those vouchers we orginally got. So, we received a grand total of $44.50. Yeah, a cruise around the world...I think not. A condo on the beach...maybe Polly sized. :)
