Southern Traditions or Superstitions...

If you've ever seen "Because of Winn Dixie" or had a Southern grandmother, you probably already know about Bottle trees. Well, I just adore them. They are visually interesting and full of Southern charm! I decided just the other day to make one. The legend is that the bottles shine and attract the evil spirits and then trap them forever. Yeah, I needed one.
Mom had brought me some old soda and green glass bottles some time ago and they were hidden under all the random clutter in the garage til we started clean out some of that last weekend. So, first thing I took the box around to the back porch and wondered just where I could make this tree. I finally chose one of the porch posts after scanning the internet of images of  bottle trees in Louisana. And so I began...
I gathered supplies.

Then I washed the bottles and began hammering those big nails into the post at an angle at random heights. I didn't put them down low as I would hate for them to be taken off by little hands.

Next, I just put the bottles on the nails and rearranged them til it was pleasing to me!

Ta-da! A little backyard hoo-doo to keep away the uglies!
